3000 Steps Campaign

Will You Help Us?

Hello International family. We are standing alongside YFC Romania for the next few weeks with a focus on helping them reach a significant next step in their “3000 Steps” campaign: a goal to see 300 people giving $100 USD. This $30,000 will provide YFC Romania the outstanding 22% they need to secure the deposit required to buy Poarta Oilor – an 8100m² campsite in Gârbova, Romania.

This opportunity will only be available until 22 January 2021, so please make a donation using the “Donate Now” button as soon as you are able.

Day Twenty – Thank You!

Although today is the last day of YFC International’s campaign on behalf of Youth for Christ Romania, donations received before 22 January 2021 will still go toward the goal of helping to purchase Poarta Oilor campsite. Being our last official campaign day, we just wanted to say THANK YOU.

Whether you took a small step or a big one – whether you gave $10 or $10,000 – we appreciate your generosity and partnership in reaching young people with the Good News of Jesus. 👣

Day Nineteen – 5000 Youth

YFC Romania currently reaches 300 youth every week and 1000 different young people every year. Upon completion of the 3000 Steps campaign, they’ll be able to reach 2000+ youth every week and 5000+ youth every year. Help them take another step today.

Day Eighteen – How It All Began

Frits & Tineke, the founders of Poarta Oilor, tell the story of how it all began. In the meantime, we depend on your help to take over this centre and extend the vision. Thank you for clicking “Donate Now” and bringing us closer to our goal!

Day Seventeen – We Give Thanks

“Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done.”  -1 Chronicles 16: 8

On the National day of Romania, we give thanks to God that Romania is a country where the Gospel can be shared freely and different denominations are more and more open to working together. We thank God for the missionaries He sent to Romania and His plan with this country, that we know for sure to be good.

We pray for the young generation of Romania that they will seek and find Him. We pray for God’s favor over this country, the upcoming elections and the leaders of the country. We ask for His word to become the standard in our society and Christians would have courage to stand up and have their voices heard in all different spheres of influence.

Lastly we pray that we would be able to follow God’s heart while we try to reach many children and teenagers with the Gospel of Jesus Christ thanks to our “3000 steps” campaign.

Follow 3000 Steps on Facebook.

Day Sixteen – Meet Julia

One thing that often gives confidence that our ministry dollars are going to be put to good use is the testimony of young people who have already benefited from that ministry. YFC Romania certainly has an excellent track record with Rock Solid, drop-in centres, festivals and camp ministry. Hear from Julia as she shares her testimony about how Youth for Christ has made a difference in her walk with Jesus.

Day Ten – Let’s Talk

Join Martin, JP and Walid as they talk about Youth for Christ Romania and the 3000 Steps Campaign.

Day Nine – An American in Romania

David & Rebeca Clinkscales have been in church and youth ministry for decades, serving God in different churches, locations and cultures. By God’s amazing grace, their ministry journey has led them to YFC Romania in Slatina and they are passionate about seeing youth come to know Christ.

Since August 2018 they’ve lived in Slatina and served with Grace Church to reach youth and families for Christ. God has placed in them a special love for their youth and co-laborers. They are reaching out to youth from 6 to 18 years old through English classes, youth clubs, camps and many more.

Day Eight – Step out in Faith

Day Seven – 300/100

Day Six – The One Who Plants

“The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.” –1 Corinthians 3:8

Over this month-long journey we want to pray for the whole campaign in practice.

We thank God for many people being involved in the background all over Romania and the whole world.

We pray for effective communication, good connections and a good network building possibility. We pray for funds for purchasing Poarta Oilor and to reach more steps, so that our local leaders would be empowered to spread the Gospel more effectively.

Day Five – Difficult Situations

It goes without saying that often, the best way to connect to teens is to know them since before they were teenagers – as kids. Youth for Christ believes the best way to help them is to connect them with Jesus, who is the only one who loves them perfectly and can really significantly help them in the many difficult situations they face.

Day Four – Sharing the Good News

Jean-Philippe Longeron, National Director
Youth for Christ Romania Youth for Christ wants to raise young leaders characterised by godliness in lifestyle, devotion to the Word of God and prayer, boldness in evangelism, and a commitment to social involvement.

How better to be committed to social involvement than to serve the Roma (gypsy) community? When the European Union opened their doors to Romania in 2007, they gradually gave more rights and more freedom to travel and to work in other countries. Since that time, Western European countries have received millions of Romanians, some of whom have very good jobs.

However, many, especially from the Roma community, have ended up coming to beg and/or to offer themselves up for prostitution. Many Western churches asked Youth for Christ in Romania for advice confronting this new reality. Leaders on the ground have come to believe that the best way to take care of them is “in their own country where they can have a job, a land and a house… And the best time to approach them is before they’re old enough to leave, when they are teenagers.” It goes without saying that often, the best way to connect to teens is to know them since before they were teenagers – as kids.

Youth for Christ believes the best way to help them is to connect them with Jesus, who is the only one who loves them perfectly and can really significantly help them in the many difficult situations they face. This is why Youth for Christ in Romania works daily with kids and teens from these communities through Sunday School, sport events, summer camps and more – so they can learn how they need help and help them in practical ways, as well as to help them find new hope as they connect with Jesus.

Thank you for your continued prayers for the ministry of Youth for Christ in Romania.

Day Three – Join Us As We Pray & Fast

“The Lord your God, who is going before you, will fight for you” – Deuteronomy 1:30

Today is our day of fasting and praying as a ministry for the expansion of the youth work we do in the country. We have signed up to a big thing when we received the “3000 steps” vision from God. But we knew He was going before us preparing every step.

Today again we feel called to submit everything into God’s hands. We know the world pandemic is going on with so many different battles on the earth and in our individual lives. Still, we are called to fight the good fight, have hope and faith and not give up.

Let’s all together focus on God’s plan, on His perfect love and wisdom and ask Him to move on our behalf. He is able. We know, believe and declare that God is not hindered by the circumstances and He is above the situation.

We pray for His grace and protection over Romania, over the youth we reach and the ones that are still unreached. We pray for all people involved on any level and ask for God’s provision as we long to see more steps taken and His Kingdom grow through the YFC ministry. Today we ask God to move. We want to see Him intervene in our battles and do more. We believe He can and He wants to.

Download our Colouring Sheet – and use the space at the bottom to include your own prayer.

YFC Romania’s Prayer for  ‘3000 Steps’. They aim to:
  • Buy Poarta Oilor (a campsite in the middle of Romania).
  • Reach 2000 youth every week.
  • Reach 5000 youth yearly.

The complex is the perfect place for Summer camps, conferences, church retreats and team outreaches. It is located in the center of Romania, 40 minutes away from Sibiu international airport.

Founded in 2002 by Frits and Tineke Sleeswijk Visser, Poarta Oilor started as a bed and breakfast and has grown every year since. The owners were praying for a Christian organization to take over the campsite and its ministry and YFC Romania felt moved by God to take a step of faith and buy it.

Poarta Oilor includes three buildings for accomodation (35 rooms in total) with a conference hall, kitchen, restaurant, playground, camping area and a swimming pool. The facility will become YFC Romania’s headquarters and it creates an opportunity for the ministry to expand.

Currently Poarta Oilor hosts guests, retreats and camps all year round, with Summer being the peak season. The complex is self-sustaining and it generates revenue that YFC Romania could partially reinvest in ministry.

Day Two – What Do You See?

What does your community look like – if you step outside your front door and walk down the street, what do you see?

Romania is a southeastern European country known for the forested region of Transylvania, ringed by the Carpathian Mountains. Its preserved medieval towns include Sighişoara, and there are many fortified churches and castles, notably clifftop Bran Castle, long associated with the Dracula legend. Bucharest, the country’s capital, is the site of the gigantic, Communist-era Palatul Parlamentului government building.

Day One – 3000 Steps

International family, we are Youth for Christ Romania and over the month of November we are looking for 300 people to join us on an adventure that will transform the ministry of our beautiful nation by giving a one off donation of $100. We have 88% of the deposit we need to secure the purchase of a fantastic ministry site.

So each day we will be sharing something that will help you see just how amazing our nation is so you can see what a difference can be made when we step out in faith and journey together.

#Romania #YFC #youthforchrist #3000steps #5000youth #dreambig #charity #TakeYourStep

The leadership of YFC Romania have been moved by God to:

  • Buy a campsite with a capacity of 135 people
  • Build 3 drop-in centers and invest in new material such as vans and festival equipment
  • Grow our staff/missionary team from 10 to 30 people and improve the low salaries that they currently receive

With the goal to:

  • Reach 2000 youth every week (currently 300 in 2019)
  • Reach 5000 youth every year (instead of 1000 in 2019)

Will you help us?
